  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red epic pics @ ibc 2009

Hey that's great !
Do you know if it will this time be possible to have different settings on each one ? I mean, for example, 1:1 magnification on the assistant's LCD, clean signal in the EVF and false color in the 3rd LCD ? + TC / file name overlay on one of the HD-SDI outs ?

I don,t know the answer to this, but with modules I would think
that the possibilities are endless...

Monitor outputs available on EPIC

Monitor outputs available on EPIC

In addition to the increased number of monitor outputs, EPIC will also surpass the flexibility of RED ONE in regard to what combinations of monitor signal are available on each of those outputs.

Specific details later.....

Wow..... just wow. I think I'm just as excited to learn about all the module capabilities as I am the cameras.

Is it safe to assume that all these modules will also work with the scarlets?

Yes they work but you have get a convert module because the scarlet is thinner than the epic!

For those who were at IBC, do you know if it's possible to ditch the CF module on the side of the camera and just use the thin "1 space" CF module that can be clamped to the back? It looks like the one on the side has gotten pretty bulky and I'd love to just add some non-significant depth to the camera instead. Thanks.

will there be the option to have false colour and edge highlights on separate assignable buttons? At the moment they are both in colour so it's one or the other.
And will frame guides and time code be able to go through HDSDI when both the EVF and LCD are in use. It's a pain having to tape off LCD directors monitors.
These are 2 things i'm really hoping the Epic will do.

Just a quick question... I was wondering if the batteries and Hd's from the R1 will be compatible with the epic?

Pictures look insane btw. . . thanks for sharing.
Jim is definitely a living ledgend.

Thanks... Heard from someone that they might not. Jus clearing it up for me.

I'm curious about this also. ...definitely the way I would go. That CF module/EVF port looks like it's gonna get in the way of my big head when I go HH. :blushing:

Actually... instead, I'd like to see an optional plate for this side of the camera that would accommodate various accessories. ...such as a left-side REDhandle mabye? :001_tt2:

Ummm that's wrong...it's the R1 with the new sensor at 4.5K , it's on recon. The new chip for epic only comes in a few weeks time...

I was at the IBC and Jarred said that you could remove the side CF module and use a CF module on the back, so you could mount two Epics closer to each other for stereoscopic shooting.

Amazing!!!... now build, build, build!!!

Congrats!

Nice. Just wondering where the EVF/LCD will attach then. But that is great to hear.

If you don't use a side CF module, there is also an EVF / LCD output available on the PRO I/O Module......
