Side handle "off" the brain...

Side handle "off" the brain...

I would really like to replace that right hand grip with the DSMC side handle.
Something like a 12"-18" breakout cable connecting side handle to EPIC body would make this sort of configuration much more practical.

FF in left hand - DSMC side handle in right hand..

I am on the same page here. If there was a way to mount the DSMC side handle as desired rather than just on the side of the brain it would enable some very slick rigs.

In my perfect world, my right hand would be in an ergonomic position holding the DSMC side handle and my left hand would be on a smart handle that controlled focus and iris.

In terms of mounting the DSMC side handle I wonder if it would be possible to have a receiver that mimicked the side of the camera - I'm thinking 1/2" thick metal, roughly 2" by 4" with the pins and hardware to mount the side handle on it, tethered back to camera with a Lemo cable and with a rod mount facility or at least several 1/4-20s on the back.

does the hand position on the lens look uncomfortable for anyone else? i think the whole thing needs to move forward and evf moves back. Then of course it needs to be counter balanced. It might take me a bit of trial and error to get a comfortable setup, but this is certainly a start, thanks for posting

This is but one snapshot of Ivan's first time using the rig..so for sure I will be able to post setups I have used comfortably for run-n-gun shooting I have done.

The rig I configured is now on its way to Africa with Ivan Agerton for some crazy ass shoot with photographer Michael Sugrue: http://www.sugrue.com/www/index.php

I can't wait to see the results. =)

What about just a low dumb grip handle with a start stop button. Focus and iris with the left hand.

It's true. In ENG form factor and style of shooting all the controls are puts at you fingertips. Two REC and REC check on the right hand

Iris, focus, gain, wb, black balance, speaker volume, viewfinder controls. All of the is placed in a position to ensure you do not have to take the camera off the shoulder to control any of these functions. ENG designed cameras have all of this functionality built in.

Tonaci. We've got some pieces in the works. I can send you some grabs. Pm me.
