I was on a shoot a few weeks ago and we were using a hired Red Epic Dragon. I noticed that on startup the image had a cloudy red tint to one side of the screen. It was more evident with the lens cap on. This then faded away in approx 3-4 mins as the camera warmed up. All footage was fine once we let the unit warm up. But having just purchased a Red Epic is this something I should look out for in the future as a warning? Thanks!

Hi Kevin,

I've seen this behaviour. Totally normal as the sensor warms up. In fact I also turn on false color while the camera is capped and warming up so you can see when the screen is fully purple the temp meter will be green as well.

To get the camera up to temperature faster you can roll some 82 FPS footage for about 30 seconds as this will, then reformat your card and start shooting. I just get into the habit of putting a battery on and turning on the camera before building it, so that it is usually up to temp when I am all set.

Thanks for the info David. I figured it might be something as simple as that. I'll definitely keep that trick in mind next time! Thanks again for the help. :)
