Hi REDUsers,
I've decided to purchase a Epic Dragon was looking to learn from current RED users about a good starting package to shoot indie work, school, and music videos . This will be my first Red Camera, and I apologize if some of the questions sound silly.
First my budget is about 40k +financing, revenue from the camera is not a problem this is a gift situation where I will receive the funds IF i buy a camera.
-I would like to shoot independent features, horror, thriller, and dramas.
- I would like to be able to shoot low budget music videos.
- I would like to know if there are options (besides the camera body) that can be purchased used or from third party vendors.
- I would like to know what types of lenses would be ideal and within by budget for the type of work I would like to do.
- I have a great deal of experience offset in film finance and marketing department, I fell in love with shooting and decided to return to school. This is passion for me so revenue from the camera while helpful will not make or break my situation.
- Are there any lower end steadicams options? lower then 10k+ price range
- Any gear I should focus on getting used/third party/and locations/websites where to find them.
-Any gear I should avoid getting used/third part, as well as avoid purchasing all together.
I would really like to maximize my budget to get the most out of shooting on the Dragon and acquiring the most efficient gear for the price. I fell in love with the Dragon, and footage I have seen has inspired me to take up the camera, however, I would like to do it right, with the right gear and yet spending frugally.
Thank you for your advice.
