I just receieved a quote of 589 GBP a year.. at 10 payments of 58 pounds a month.. is that a good quote to insure the Red Epic ?

The value I gave was 22,000 pounds.

Where do you insure yours? This quote was from Wealds

Thanks

I have my companies liability insurance, marine cargo, fleet vehicle insurance as well as my (personal) Scarlet and public liability insurance with Allan Chapman and James in the UK - http://www.acjltd.co.uk/

They are pretty competitive and I pay a similar price to you. Where I've had to claim in the past they've been brilliant and sorted me out without any hassle at all!

Does that price cover it if it's stolen?
Damn, I pay more for my Scarlet!! But it's for the whole package, and insurance in France seems pretty expensive.

I'm struggling to find any insures who offer a decent price for an epic. Allan Chapman and James got back to me and they have a minimum premium of £1200 + tax

I also use your performance.

I pay 117 a month, this covers me for 5mil public liability, 50K kit, 50K rented in worldwide and rental of my kit 4 times a year.

I have had an instance where we needed payout when a production blew up my power board, the production were with performance as well and they tried to tell me as its the same company I might as well claim it on my policy, which I thought was ludicrous.

Eventually it was all sorted out, but after red fixed my camera in a manner of days performance took 30 days to pay them resulting in me loosing a fair bit of money an shaving to claim loss of earning on my policy.

I am still with them but considering other options.

Thought I would just add my experience with insuring my camera in the UK.

I have received a quote now for £930 that covers the equipment (42.5k) at home in the car and on set, Its covers 2m public liability and 10k indemnity. Probably going to go with this.

Edit - Best quote also from Wealds, same as OP. Still waiting on one more quote

If your policy has an "Average" or "Under-insurance" clause like most do, be careful you are not "under-insuring". If you are only paying the premium for protecting the camera, but you have an entire camera kit, any payout can be reduced in proportion to the degree of under-insurance.
