  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Epic-Bandpro-Leica

I would love to have my own set as well. On an Epic, one using the biggest baddest sensor available, be it Mysterium/M-X or Mostro. But I think I'd stop at the sensor area the Leicas primes cover, or a 645 sensor, and hope the photosites are still about the same size so that cropping doesn't hurt as much. Now let's shoot 120fps 5k, or crop a little and go way slower with minimal or close to no resolved detail loss all the way down to about 2k for 2k distribution... Or, turn around and shoot at 24fps --cranking out 9k or thereabout frames. And all through Leica glass at T1.4. Yep, I think we would all sign up for that one. In fact, I doubt the sign-up sheet would survive the first attempt at sign-up. But don't 'cha worry, thanks to new age digital advancements we are able to complete the process without the riots.

Hi All,
Thanks to everyone for the great feedback on the lens package options and for the general enthusiasm for the Red/Leica/Band Pro announcement. Today is the last day of NAB and I've been told we'll be allowed to sleep more than four hours a night once it's all over. Next week when we're back in Burbank we'll be starting in on package details and a lot of other cool things to come. But keep the suggestions coming and please pardon the interruption while we spend a few days with our much-neglected loved ones over the weekend. :-)

Cheers to all,

Almost better than the discount is the pairing. What many including myself regard as the bests in their prospective category coming together is great to see.

Well, I guess, if RED has placed few additional EPIC M's, which they could in deed have been preparing for,
and Band Pro, has some Leica Mini Sets to go with it, also set apart for this specific known upcoming del,
then we could be looking at a very short wait, a month or so,
then we could easily be amongst the very first happy owners of a Band Pro, EPIC/LEICA package... Seth??... ;)

BTW, great meeting you at NAB, and thanks for your support and offerings, and welcome to REDUSER!!

Ketch, you're pleasantly optimistic about our preparation and inventory allotment for this deal. :-) And believe me, we all wish that your projections were 100% accurate; however, I don't believe that will be possible. We're going to do our best to get gear into the hands of customers as soon as possible but projections are really tough at this stage. But when we have something concrete you'll hear it here first. Excellent to meet you at the show as well, and all the others who stopped by the booth. Really looking forward to working with you in the coming months, and the rest of the RedUser family as well.

Holly Smokes!!
By the way Seth ... the Leica 40mm @ 2000 ISO on EPIC M in the night at CML party was KILLER.
Thanks buddy.
Looking forward to hear from you and from Brian soon ;)
Best.

Cheers from Brazil

I'm probably about 4-6 months out from having the funds ready, but sounds like it could take that long. Anyway, count me in as someone who is very interested. After I get my Stage 3 I'll need to get at least one more Epic body (for now :P) and if this deal is attractive, it might be the perfect way to add another Epic (and Leicas!) to the family.

Thanks,

Anthony

Hey Raphael, you ain't kidding! I can't wait til we get an EPIC in house and can really see what the happy couple is capable of. I spoke with Brian and he'll be dropping you a line.

Cheers,

Anthony and Vladimir (and everyone else really), if you are interested in getting in line for the Epic/Leica package, send me a PM and we'll talk offline. All details of the package (price, lenses, etc.) will be posted on the forum when they are finalized. As far as that goes, things are progressing. There are a few meetings taking place this week and next week, but after that we should have it all locked in.

And finally...the Leica demo footage that we screened at NAB is now available on the Band Pro Vimeo page: http://vimeo.com/user5024939. Not quite the same as seeing it on the gorgeous Dolby 42" evaluation monitor, or the 103" Panasonic plasma, but hey, these internets still have some growing up to do from what I'm told. Anyone interested in seeing the footage without the Vimeo compression can download the high resolution version straight from the Vimeo page. Just need to be a Vimeo member.

Also, for those planning to be in the SoCal area in early June, we'll be screening these videos and hopefully more at the Cine Gear Expo on June 3rd and 4th on a crispy 4K projector. I personally can't wait to watch Tom's footage on the big screen. Hope to see you all there. Stop by booth #70 and say hello.

Cheers,

Send Regards to the Polite folks at BandPro.

Welcome to REDUSER world... bem vindo heheheh!!!
cheers

Seems like the Leica Summilux-C are good candidates to go in my trip to Patagonia and Antarctica. Wondering how they will behave in cold temperature.
