RED Epic and Arri Alexa "Catwalk" in Paris

I tried the mock-up Alexa on my shoulder and due to the shoulder cut and the center of gravity being in the middle, it's not bad to handhold, it balances OK.

I have to agree with you if your referring to how it "looks like it feels", however, everyone that I have been with that put her on their shoulder, was surprised how comfortable she felt.

Sony's SRW9000 looks crazy big and bulky but feels pretty decent on the shoulder and the Apple iPad looks kinda awkward but I had one in my hands last week and it felt wonderful, so please hold on until you put ALEXA on your shoulder then we'll see how you feel about her.

That is great news- I'm glad to hear that Arri is keeping with their history of well made and great feeling cameras. And that the boxy look does not translate into a boxy feel when operating. Thanks for the heads up.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but does the ARRI record sound? Is it a pure double system machine?

I shot a martial arts feature earlier in the year and had a healthy dose of ALL handheld days. Believe me, I love the Red One, but man I was beat down doing handheld all day with it even though the rig was balanced. I'm looking forward to slimming down the weight with the modular concept of epic.

From the looks of it, it seems like the Arri will be a wee bit heavy for me.

This is getting silly -- Sanjin thinks he's helping RED by doing this personal marketing campaign to spread fear & doubt about ARRI's Alexa camera. He's done this in the past as well, taken it upon himself to act as Red's unofficial marketing director. It's not helping Red's or RedUser's reputation in the professional world.
