  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I don't have the money to spend for this incredible software which is Twixtor so I tried to use something else...

I always dreamt about making impressive Slow motion and I managed to get very nice result using Optical Flow in Final Cut Pro X.
In fact it is a matter of using the correct Shutter Speed, I was able to achieve 1400 fps without any artefact or strange motion blur...

1/2000s seem to be really helpful for FCPX and the OPTICAL FLOW to get the things done. Shooting at 300 fps with the RED EPIC helped also.
I shot someone running very fast and someone jumping from a chair. It's very short ... :)

same here... I thought I would get some bad artefact or really ugly motion blur

Phantom Miro who??

Most of what we struggle with and pay dearly for today . . . will be done with algorithms tomorrow

Wow... nice

Kronos seems to be a really nice software ...
Something which is really great with Twixtor, it is integrated to FCPX and its pretty easy to do some nice slow motion without having to send our video to After Effect.

BTW I have always dreamt to shoot with a PHAMTOM camera and I still do but it is a TOP PRICE friends ...

I think the way to get the most out of optical flow is shoot your highest framerate, shoot high shutter speed, and minimize clutter in the frame so the software has less stuff to trip over. Very good work Meddy.

well said ...the main point is higher the shutter speed, so that will remove all motion blur from the image which really help all opticals algoritm to create a nice slow motion

The "magnetic" timeline in FCPX is really annoying.
I am back to FCP7 - not missing FCPX.

same here. Pretty hard to learn a new way of work but finally it is pretty intuitive

That test looks good, but it doesn't look like 1400 FPS. More like 600 at best to me.

Just my 2 cents.

Alex

I should have done some nice Ramping to be able to notice the real stop of motion... :)
Trust me when I said 1400 fps . native 300fps slowed down on FCPX to 6-8%, which is really really low.
