I just cropped and slowed down the Offhollywood EPIC 007 test from 96 fps to 192 fps (-50%) in Motion

that was before output at REDlogFilm in RCX, then color corected using GenArts Sapphire Film Effect and add music background in FCP.

Negative Film: Kodak_5218: Kodak Vision2 500T, tungsten light balanced, fine grain.

Print Film: Kodak_2383: Kodak VISION Color Print Film, rich blacks.

Music by DJ Pippi: Ibiza A Touch of Class 1, song 12: Ghost of Dalt.

Best to watch @ full screen in LOOP mode of your player.

Haha, just today I was trying to slow this same footage down to around 1,000 frames per second in Twixtor. It was warping the girl's face too much, though. I am not an expert with Twixtor.

I would love to get my hands on some more 5K footage to play with!

very nice!

Tom, also I'm doing these days intensive tests with slow motion(GH2, RED1 and also have got that Epic 007 file).

I will show that test in a couple of days at Vimeo.

Stay tuned.

Also I can slowed down any footage till -50% without any visible artifacts using Motion Time scale feature,

also sure that you can do it with another apps even Twixtor.

But below -50% you'll get visible artifacts.

That means you can't slow down to 1000fps (that I also tried) just because these image data didn't exist,

were not recorded and also it's not possible to make it with any sophisticated app.

So these data must be recorded, captured or acquired by the high speed camera.

That's it.

Nice Sanjin,

The grade is interesting but "under the hood" motion is playing back each frame twice. You can see that it is got that stutter quality to it.

It would be interesting to see how twixtor would interpret the speed.

David.

I see you try to keep yourself busy while waiting to get an Epic in your hand Sankin :)
We are working on Jack the Giant Killer here and i'm really curious to see the footage!

Tell me know, im about to grab my 4th Leica lens, a 80mm Summilux 1,4...
Will you take it yourself as a good buy for the Epic S or Scarlet? I like the look of Leica lens, now obviously i will never be able to enjoy any kind of these new autofocus options the Epic seem to offer... Should i better consider a Canon 85mm or a slower but IS 70-200 II?

Anyone? :)

Vincent,

Leica as you know well Leica lenses are something very special and in this case I would go for Leica Summilux 80mm R 1.4

and also if you are fond of AF for Canon 85mm EF F/1.2 and 70-200mm II version.

Also all of them are 5K EPIC ready just because they are FF35mm 43mm+ circle lenses.

It's not that will break your wallet and those lenses can perform even better than Optimos especially in flare

and low light shooting situation than any Angenieux available.

Did you use any special settings to achieve this? My shot was warping at around 1000 fps.

Tom,

already I did 1% slowed down version (that means 960 fps or 9600 fps, please correct me!!!) but the file was more than 20GB and it finished in my waste basked.

But right now I'm "cooking" another one and if all is OK I'll upload it to Vimeo soon as I can.

Hey Sanjin,

Can you post an r3d that is about 24 frames of this clip?

David

I've used Twixtor for a while and can manage to get minimum warping with a few clicks. Nothing really special going on though.

Nicely done Justin! Did you Twixtor from RAW? 4K DPX? or HD?

Thanks Mark! I graded in RC-X, exported a 2.5K DPX to AE and did some magic.

Twixtor tends to work better when there is more detail in the shot.

David,

can't make it because I "left" RAW in RCX when output in ProRes HQ 2K RedlogFilm.

So the best I can offer is one second from original manipulated ProRes HQ file

but later in about 5-6 hours...

Stay tuned.

Thanks Sanjin!

This helps, but I think the link is broken.

David

David,

I'm waiting that Compressor finish transcoding one huge 20GB file and that will take about 5-6 hours more or less.

Then I would be able to restart computer to finish upload of that ProRes file.

If you could a bit wait that then all be OK later...
