RED enters SPACE ACT agreement with NASA

[Elsie N]

To infinity and beyond!
...

"...to boldly go where no man has gone before."

I think they are only going to the ISS. '-)

[Will Keir]

That's incredible, proud of you guys.

Thanks Ryan... this is incredible to the whole RED family but personally is very huge for me. I've been on cloud 9 for the whole week

[Matt Ryan]

The Nasa unmanned rocket launch malfunctioned and exploded upon liftoff. Was this the rocket carrying the Dragons? http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/structure/launch/orbital.html

[John Marchant]

Yeah, that did not go well

[Brent Carter]

No. And even more thankfully, seems like no one was hurt.

[Rick Augustus]

WOW. Now that's AWESOME.

[Marcus Friedlander]

I know that nobody was hurt in the antares rocket explosion but were any DRAGONS harmed??????????? :eek6:

[Brent Carter]

No, Marcus.

[Marcus Friedlander]

Hahahahaha thank the heavens

[Adam Beck]

Reminds me of watching The Right Stuff as a kid when the Mercury Program had several of these launches. Not sure how accurate the movie was at portraying the success of the program.

[Randall Weatherington]

Dragons (Red) will probably hitch a ride on a Dragon (SpaceX.)

Adam, "The Right Stuff" was a fairly accurate account of the Mercury space program with only a slight amount of "Hollywood" added.
I lived through that era.

[Petr Dvorak]

Time to make room for a new gizmos.

[Daniel Stilling]

Tonight and tomorrow there will be some more RED space goodness.

Tonight and tomorrow there will be some more RED space goodness.

Woohoo!

[Alex Kiritz]

Were Red's cameras the ones that were cited as running low on battery power today?

Haha, good find. The Space DRAGONS have both battery and ELPAC solutions so they are covered

[Filip Orlandic]

Space Dragons are filming and flying 14,000 miles an hour???

[Michael Hastings]

from that article:

"The earliest Orion might carry passengers is 2021"

7 years from first launch to carrying people... interesting how the pace of development has changed in 50 years. Kennedy announced the goal of the moon in may 1961 and eight years later they landed....

Go back to Jarred's OP: "...we are very excited to be working with our good friends at NASA who will be sending EPIC Dragons up into space to be used at the International Space Station."

The cameras are being used on ISS. The rocket is NASA's FedEx to the ISS : )

[Forrest White]

The mutual interest between RED and NASA first emerged shortly after RED began shipping its first 4K RED ONE camera back in 2007. Since then, RED has collaborated with NASA in filming various rocket and shuttle launches in 4K and beyond.
