  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

We will be using an Epic next year and we couldn't be more excited. I have 8 students working for us and they are just thrilled to have the opportunity to work on RED. A few of them are film school majors and the others are all over the place, Engineering & Econ to name a few, but they are all in to digital media.

I've seen the Epic, Scarlett or RED ONE in a few Sports productions (mainly football games on the sideline) but currently to my knowledge USC is the only school that has an Epic in house. Usually the RED's where rented or hired out. We are next!

We are thrilled to just how much amazing footage we will have from football and basketball games. It will be just glorious! Other than having the amazing footage it is our goal to show to our peers that you can use an Epic effectively & efficiently in a fast paced sports production outfit. We do not want to be like SportsCenter we want to be like high end Hollywood production every week. It will be a very fun and hard challenge, but we are up to the task. We proved this past season that you can take a DSLR kit and have much more unique and original content than an ENG camera could ever get. (not that there is anything wrong with ENG)

There is no better way to show off our Campus, City, & Athletic programs than with an Epic. This program helps make that possible. No other major camera company offers anything like this.

Also want to mention that Avi Cohen was a huge inspiration to us from his work on the Auburn ESPN Depth Chart show. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of what was possible!

I just emailed this to the Chair of the Film/Video Department at my alma mater. Unfortunately I think they've already committed to a bunch of FS700s for their next camera purchase, but maybe in the future!

sadly not in education anymore...
but I've just shared it with 1 or 2 institutions that might be interested in it here in Austria.

even if rental-guys might see some downside in first instance - in the end everyone will benefit from this I guess :)

No question, this is good for all of us. Very cool program.

I got back into education again (faculty) because it has consistently remained the best way for me to keep skills sharpened and to stay in-tune, on the ground, with how quickly technologies and practices are being picked up by 'general' users and future professionals. Plus it gives me exposure to potentially brilliant future collaborators. Teaching is a huge energy/time sap and the pay accounts for nothing, but it's a priceless endeavor in every other respect.

I'm enrolled to start my masters this fall, I don't have a schedule yet and my transcript shows that I've graduated with my BA... how can I sign up now rather than waiting until september when I get my schedule?

surely you have some electronic documentation or something of some kind... submit that with a short commentary about your situation, though it's still possible you'll just have to wait until september.

This is great. I wish this was around when I was in school.

What athletic program are you with?

So whats the discount? like 10% of every item. If educational discount is like 30% for an EPIC or something that would be insane! Does the educational discounts for cameras just mean they are going to give people battle tested cameras from people that are upgrading?
