Red DSMC 2 EVF Design Flaw???

I'm having a problem on a fairly new Red Monstro. I can't loosen or tighten the EVF mount Once I mount the EVF and tighten the red knob to the EVF and then mount to camera brain, then turn the black knob, it just turns the entire EVF without loosening or tightening. I can certainly understand why it is doing this because when you take off the EVF from the mount, the pin that goes into the EVF mount turns with the black knob. If it wasn't turning, the EVF would stay in place. So Im confused. I talked to Otto Nemez and they said they have seen many of these do this and suspect a design flaw. Im surprised no one else mentions this.
