Bought two red drives hooded them up to my R1mx and my R1 won't see them. Tested the drives on my computer and they worked fine. Please help.

What does it say on the Red One display - No media attached or something else?

The most likely culprit is your Red Drive cable. Have you tried swapping that?

Just a silly question - how are you hooking up the Red Drive to the camera? You aren't trying to use a USB cable by any chance?

If you are using a Red Drive Lemo cable, then try another Red Drive cable.

I'm going between two different Lemo cables that came with the drives.

the chance that you've gotten 2 broken drive-cables is pretty low (even used)...

I'd ask the person you've bought it from on which firmware (or on which device) the HDD was formatted!
If you have an older firmware (edit: or maybe even just a different one) then the camera the drive was formatted with chances are that it doesn't work... (I guess)...

If you can see the drives on the computer. Do a format on the computer as FAT32. Hopefully this will then allow the drives to be recognised by the camera.

If they are recognised by the camera, then do a format on the camera, and then they should be usable.

Formatted the drive on my PC and Mac, no luck. Doesn't see the media at all. Thanks

sorry, that was my bad... it's not possible apparently. I just thought maybe you have had red watchdog running and the HHD was maybe mounted read-only so the formatt on the PC failed - but that can't be the case if you tried different machines/OS...

what about trying red undead? Maybe this tool offers "new" options to you that might be handy to solve this?

Thanks will give it a try.

Can you hear the drive spin up when it's connected to the camera? If not the Lemo on the drive may have come loose from the circuit board. If you open up the drive you'll see the connector is wired to a small daughter board that connects to another board by a plastic header. Make sure that is seated firmly and is level. On first drive I had the connecter had lifted by barely a millimeter at the left edge, but that was enough - pushed it back into place and it worked fine.
