hey guys...
have a major problem....

shot a short using the red....
red is brand new... just got it shipped in..
so the problem is, on the second day of shoot, towards the end of the day, we tried to download our footages, but the drive would not mount at all.
we have been downloading the footages after every scene throughtout the whole day, but not for the last 20 clips
we've plugged in using the different connections as well.. but still the drive doesnt mount.
and also using different computers, still no luck. it was able to transfer earlier on before the last 20 clips, im able to mount the drive on the camera though, and i can see all my clips through playback.
so what happened? anyone have any idea/solution?
thanks in advance fer your help

camera is on build 17 btw.

would like to see a answer to this myself. I had this happen to me on a test shoot tried everything had to reformat, this however is not a solution has made me very leary of the drives. Have not had this problem again.

Did you use the included AC Power for the drive? Especially on the USB connection that could make the difference.

Firewire ports have gone bad on drives before, so it's possible with some power USB would work.

hey guys, thanks fer the suggestions...
yup, have tried mounting it thru using the disk utility program.. it appears that the drive can be detected but still not mountable..
have used the a/c adapter to power it up too and using the different connections but still no luck in getting it to mount...
the drive is practically brand new.. so i dun know what could have happened to it..
any way to mount the drive thru the camera and use the camera usb ports to make it able to mount and transfer the image files?
anyone from RED is able to help with this problem please?

If the drive is visible in the disc util, then you could try check/fix file system of drive.

/sbin/fsck -y

WARNING!!!!
Do this as last resort. This procedur have the potential to make things WORSE, and totally fu your drive.

If footale for much moeny is riding on this, let a red tech try fix the drive.
In this case your insurance may cover it better, then if you broke it yourself.

Do this:
1 restart computer in single user mode (press s during startup)
2 type /sbin/fsck -y and press return.
3 waaaaaait a loooong time
4 If file system errors are found, just wait, and when the promt return, just re-run same command untill it can't fix anymore.

Did you try the mini-usb conection in the RedDrive. There´s some Drives with the FW800 in death condition.

if not, contact Redteam.

hey guys
thanks fer all the replies n helpful suggestions...
managed to get the drive finally mounted in the post-house..
apparently, they used a PC(Windows) and the drive was detectable and mountable..
and footage safely transferred.
