Red Drive w/LCD&EVF kills the Red batteries

well ... thanks for adding value to this site.
You can hate RED. You hate REDUSER. You can think you are the smartest motherfucker on the planet. But some people actually do come to this website to learn more about the camera and how to work with it. If you don't have a question, or a suggestion, or an answer ... pray tell ... why the hell are you posting here?

I don't "hate" RED or hate REDuser. I think this site has the potential to be a great resource to a lot of people. I think it is similar to DVXuser which had some good points and bad points. The good points are that most of the people are really down to Earth and cool, if they want to be. The bad points are that there were that smaller amount that really made an impact by being overly unhelpful, insulting, and condescending. Also, there tends to be the potential for "fanboy" attitudes on both of those sites. Maybe it's due to the brand name focus of these sites. I just find it a real shame because I have found some great people on these sites. In fact, I never gave two cents about Super 8 film and was happy to shoot on my Canon XL2 until DVXuser's John Hudson showed some footage and talked about how great the good old Super 8 days were. Watching his clips gave me inspiration to shoot on that medium and I've never looked back. I thank him very much for "turning me on" to Super 8. I don't think I can thank him enough. That just goes to show that even on a fanboy site, you can still be helpful to ALL different people, even if they don't shoot on the same medium as you.

Unfortunately in life, it is usually the small percentage of people who are irrational and don't think through what they say who are the loudest. On the internet, they usually post quite a bit, whereas people who think things through generally do searches or find the information they need rather easily if they have the time to do it. Again, the people making insults to others often are the loudest and like to post a lot. You can't avoid this anywhere, so you've got to just deal with it by ignoring what you think to be irrelevant.

But it doesn't help when the thread starter makes inflammatory statements like the RED camera is a joke or things to that extent. Usually when someone complains about a situation they are having in a respectful way, they aren't flamed to death.

There's a potential for what you call fanboy behaviour on every subject under the sun. If you don't like reading it, then don't. It really is that simple.

I just ask that you can make yourself useful here if you're posting, and not become part of the small percentage of loud people posting noise, and making it harder to find the real info.
