I was just informed from my friend on that in States.

Luckily I have not ordered RED bricks on my March delivery with RED S/N 768 and I have used a stronger ones on my sides.

CHINESE Made 190Wh V-Mount batteries. I hope it will be OK for all gears power up in my test in coming Sunday.

Keep you posted RED guys.

Have you used this battery Mark?

I have not used this one with digital readout - however - we ran one of our RED's powering off of Aaron Meddick's steadicam - which is powered by the ones without digital readout - Aaron swears by them and has used them for years.

I have a big job coming up that will run TONS of accessories off of the Red - so, this (190) is looking good to me. Testing soon - vacation first!!

Also - chargers will charge two batteries at the same time.

Stewart, you need to back this statement up with some facts or retract it.

This comment is based on what?

I dunno, Stuart, I wouldn't get bent out of shape on this one. All he's stating is that the more gear attached to the battery, the quicker it draws down it's charge. Which is true of course. The rest of his statement isn't really saying anything, other than his more powerful battery will last a little longer.

EDIT: oh i see. you're saying he's implying that attaching the extra stuff kills the battery outright. I didn't take it that way. I thought he just meant faster discharge....maybe a language translation problem?

We just shot a Toyo Tire commercial with the Red and it spent the entire day on Red Bricks with the drive, the EVF and the LCD. I didn't really notice the decrease in battery life although there would have been some. Maybe it went from 90 minutes to 75 minutes but I honestly didn't notice the frequency of battery swaps changing.

The thread title "Red Drive w/LCD&EVF kills the battery" makes it sound like the battery can't deliver enough current to actually function with the drive/EVF/LCD up and going at the same time. It can. Now I don't know how much more it can handle, but I'm having no trouble with that setup.

Yes, that would be the implication, but the thing to understand is that its not just the capacity of the battery (Wh) that is important, its also the maximum current the battery can sustain.

Sure. To me the vernacular "kills the battery" means that it drains the battery faster, not outright shuts it down immediately.....stewart what are you saying?

From another thread:

Ok, here's my measurement:

One RED brick powers the RED ONE, the 5.6" RED LCD, the EVF, and the RED drive for 85 minutes. The brick is at 20% at that time, so it would last longer but it's better to recharge it at that point.

I wouldn't say that this is killing the battery...

Dear mate STU,

No Offense to RED bricks performance , and may I suggest a T-V mount battery plate will be needed for two RED bricks attached to RED camera so there are no Battery power down the road while shooting as expected time consumption 90 Mins or less if FULL RED GEAR UP.

No power down to RED shooting and all RED users and shooters is a primary issue to address " No Need to say " CUT " is what I hope to be while shooting.

I have designed the T-mount plate with my CHINA battery vendor for RED and I am not making none profit to let RED to OEM this optional accessories that I have been currently using on my RED for nearly 3.5 months.

I am not talking but I am making to believe what I see and using with my design to make MY DAYS with no SUNSHINES.

I have attached the photos for al of RED owners to order it.

If you do not like the Color then I will change the battery plate in " RED " color if RED wants.

I am not selling gear here, and I have to be honest to tel the Facts though.

In additional to the battery, and there are many shooters need Camera head- on Lights as well from either the Camera battery or external high current draw Battery to supply " NO Hurts " to both camera and Battery as well.

Solution :

Stu, may I have ann offical data of what RED camera power needs if all gears are up within RED parts and external stuffs ?

Stew.

Dear Stew,

I am interested in your power set-up.

How much approximate time are you getting with one of your chinese-made 190Wh battery, in a normal configuration? Let's say RED body+drive+LCD.

Also, how can one get the T-vmount battery plate?

Thanks!

Since when does this site back up any statements it makes? This site has constantly ignored verifiable reviews from many different DPs who have found flaws in the camera and workflow and you guys chalk it up to "they just don't know what they're doing." Or maybe "they aren't true DPs afterall!" Sortof like using the "No true Scot" logical fallacy.

PS- I noticed you Banned that dude...maybe you'll ban me too. Maybe you'll even edit my posts like you do other dissenters.

Stew,

I didn't notice they banned you.

well ... thanks for adding value to this site.

ban you? for that post?

Don't flatter yourself.

Since you feel the way you do - and you call yourself a "dissenter" - I can suggest MANY, MANY other web forums more suited for you.

This kind of thing is really getting old.

You can hate RED. You hate REDUSER. You can think you are the smartest motherfucker on the planet. But some people actually do come to this website to learn more about the camera and how to work with it. If you don't have a question, or a suggestion, or an answer ... pray tell ... why the hell are you posting here?

RED-BRICK batteries

RED-BRICK batteries

Since when does this site back up any statements it makes?

The issue is Stewart starts a thread headlined " RED-DRIVE + RED-EVF and LCD kills RED-BRICK batteries", and he then goes on to say - hey use these batteries instead.

I think its more than reasonable in that case to ask for his evidence that the batteries "are killed" because

a) I do this test all the time, and get 90+ minutes usage in that application.

and

b) there is also no evidence that his purported "solution" works.

A bigger Wh capacity battery may not have the Amperage capacity to support what RED-BRICKS can and do support.
