Hi, today, while shooting onto our 320GB RED DRIVE, something like 2 minutes into the take it just said "safe to remove" for 5 seconds, and then stopped the recording.

recording works after that and the clip also plays back fine totally.

we've had that yesterday while shooting inside a cab and I thought it might have been a bump, but today, it was very easy handheld movements and those never posed a problem before.

we are experiencing this only on one of the drives.

the settings were 4k 16:9 redcode 38 yesterday at 24 fps and today we used 4k 16:9 redcode 28

anyone has experienced that before?

cheers, Xax

I've heard about the drive randomly dismounting. I believe the new beta firmware address that issue specifically. You might wanna try it.

Yeah the funny thing is we didn't have that happen until we've installed the newest beta firmware. I'm not sure if that's what's caused it though. We might have to roll back to the older firmware I guess.

the newest meaning the one from a few days ago? Well, if so then yeah, roll back.

Check your drive cable for wear (particularly the moulded plastic bit).

If you were crammed in a cab with it pressing against something it may have momentarily lost connection.

Try pushing it/wiggling it and see if it ejects.

If it does go to www.red.com/store......!

Yeah the funny thing was that it said safe to remove, stopped recording after 5 seconds of that message appearing and then it worked fine again...

I am trying to recreate that error but it hasnt happened again yet...
