Red drive pb with fw800 reccurence

Dear REDUSER

We experimente a pb FW800 with our REDDRIVE..I Know there a lot a pb with DRIVE in FW800, Three RED OWNER friends have the same type of pb.

I mail RED about this I know understand why the warranty only 90 days this accessory if this pb arrive to a lot of us...we won't pay 700$ for repair this DRIVE who don't have one year ( RED make stuff for professional ?? )

If you have the same experience about the REDDRIVE FW800 just tell us

Hi Jeremy.

Your translation into English is making it a little difficult to understand your problem.

Do you mean that your RED DRIVE FW800 connection does not work? Have you tried the USB or FW400 connections.

Also, RED recommend that you always use the external power supply and not rely on Firewire BUS power.

Yes ERIC that correct...FW800 from one of my REDDRIVE doesn't work..but work on USB and FW400. I try to use external Power supply but they still doesn't work.

About to come out of back-order. Mine, ordered roughly 2 months ago, is now on its way. Used to be longer waiting times.

Jeremy, once the FW800 port is gone, then external power won't help.

This is a general problem with FW drives. 90 day is standard warranty, some companies even offer only 30 days (which I believe is the legal minimum). That RED gives a 1 year warranty on most of their gear is really just their generosity, and should not be taken for granted.
