Okay, I know very little about connects, etc. Maybe a little terminology.

for now, i've been using a cord i found in my spaghetti box of cords that I connect from the red drive to my mac. I think it's firewire (the little hole) and then to usb (the flat rectangular hole).

What is the fastest connection from the red drive to my mac or pc?

and can anyone tell me what are each of the holes called on the back of the red drive and the speeds? (i do know which one is the power. haha.)

i hope someone will take pity on me and give me some basics.

thanks.

The Firewire 800 would be the fastest. It's the Squair-ish one nearest the power plug on mine.

Hopefully you computer has a Firewire 800 and then use drives with firewire 800 and your transfer speeds should double / time cut in half!
