I recently got my Red camera. I got with it 2 red drives, one did not work properly during the tests and i sent it back for repair (it was crashing during playback). The second was working fine in the test but on the first day of shoot it kept restarting and crashing the camera. The question is:
I was told if i set the project time base (25fps for example) and redcode 36, I can shoot different resolutions, speeds and formats on the same hard drive as long as these formats are redcode 36 supported. Another info i got is that it is not recommended to shoot 3k or 2k or varispeed on a 4k formatted drive. Can someone tell me what is the right thing to do.

You can shoot anything with the same project frame rate on the drive, no matter if 2K,3K or 4K, no matter if RC36 or 28, or Varispeed. Only if you change the Project framerate the Camera will prompt, that the Magazine is incompatible.
Since most of my shots are 4K 16:9 RC 36 on the Drive, thats what i fomrat it for, but there shouldn´t be a problem recording 4K on a 2K formatted drive.
