RED DRIVE firmware update?

I have read on REDuser about a firmware tweak for the RED DRIVE if they are causing error messages with the newer builds for the RED One.

Is this something that is available as a user firmware upgrade or does the RED DRIVE have to be returned to RED for the new firmware? Is there a service charge for this?

What are the typical error messages to look for that are associated with the need to upgrade the firmware?

I've got an unused drive that I'm selling and want to have this info for the buyer.

Thanks!

You mean the "SATA_TRANS_FAULT" error on the old 320GB drives?

You have to send it in to Red for the upgrade. It is free. Just contact your rep.

Thanks Curran for the info.

I already sent an email to RED and thought I would ask here while I was waiting to hear back.

Do you know if this affect all 320 DRIVES or just a few?

The updating of a RED-DRIVE is not a black and white thing (ie, works with it, does not work without it). If you get the error, send it in, we'll take care of it. If you are shooting fine, cool. The update simply creates a more robust connection between the RED ONE and the drive so we recommend it, but it is not an issue for you, no need to rush to send it in or anything.
