This reel is the fruit of a month or so of experimentation and collaboration with the RED ONE. We screened this reel today at a local cineplex via digital, 2K projection. The results were stunning.

We (Gorilla Pictures) would love to hear what you think about our efforts. We tried to put the red through its paces, though I think we could have pushed it a bit further.

http://vimeo.com/2272539 - this is the only online version we currently have available.

Stills for your enjoyment:

Beautiful! Excellent, clean, sharp, saturated colors, very nice work. If it looks that good on Vimeo, I can only imagine what it looked like on a big screen from a 2K projector...

awful!!!

just kidding - stunning. 1 month huh? some ones been busy:)

What lenses did you use? and who was DP on the night exterior shots - they were dead on! kudos to him/her.

a reel you can be proud of- thats for sure.

best,

Sidney

Chad Terpstra was the DP on the night exteriors (and a large portion of the other stuff as well). You can check out more of his stuff at www.cineverapictures.com Chad has a nice set of Nikon lenses that we used to pull this demo together. Its been a lot of fun and lot of work (but totally worth it!)

nice site. So you guys are DP and gaffer Package.? thats damn smart.

Could you ask specific lenses - i am buying lenses now for my RED and i am seriously tempted to buy still glass:) I am looking at the Zeiss ZF line...

ofcourse I should mention your Gaffer (or best boy) kudos to him too!

Hi there. Sorry for the late reply. Everything on that reel was with Nikon lenses.

I'd definitely recommend having a set of still lenses on hand for smaller jobs. For the price they're incredible. I'd say the only drawbacks are the lack of great focus & witness marks and it's harder to find wides at fast apertures. I have a 17-35 F2.8 Nikon that is somewhat of a workhorse for many of my shoots. For some gigs I rent Zeiss Supers or Ultras for a better stop and AC-friendliness.

Peter Sensor of RP Lens.com (also works in our building) outfits still lenses for use with motion picture cameras. He does a great job and you should check out his site: http://www.rplens.com/

Man, that is really inspiring. Makes we want to grab my Red and hit the streets looking for magic! Well done.

Link with bigger version dont work...

that girl on the fourth grab on your post stole my heart! There is something very deep and happy, positive about her. Really liked the red bug driving down the road and the leaves on the stone road with the stop and one way signs. The ending shot of the insect is great too... what kind of insect was that? It looked like it might sting that finger, scawy stuff... :)

All around sharp images... you make Vimeo look like it has great compression, lol

Great footage!!!!! :)

If you to see it in the highest quality, follow the Vimeo link and scroll the bottom right of the screen where you will see DOWNLOADS. Here you can download the 231MB original version. It's absolutely stunning!

I assume this is okay with you Aaron? If not, you can turn off the download function in clip settings in Vimeo.

Oh, cool... downloading.
Hope you don't mind us downloading it. I assume you don't cause you had a link for it on your post already.
