  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED DAY... Feb. 13th

There will be a RED Day on Feb. 13th for all Redusers at a location in Los Angeles (TBD).

This will be an all-day event where we will show EPIC and Scarlet prototypes, RED ONEs with Mysterium-X sensors, new accessories... and post solutions, including some new wrinkles. We will show 4K footage on a Sony 4K projector and will also show RED footage film prints. There will be several guests showing accessories for RED and post solutions.

More details coming in the next few weeks.

Jim

Looks like 'all redusers' won't be able to attend as space is limited.

What about setting up a video feed to the red site where only redusers could log onto it. Of course it wouldn't be like being there seeing footage on a theatrical screen (which hopefully is going to happen) but still worthwhile.

I have submitted my request for registration and am waiting confirmation. I've already booked flight and hotel so keeping my fingers crossed. Found out late that you MUST apply to be registered to attend.

Email 'Kelly' with your request to attend!

Trying to figure out how you quote previous messages. Trying this....

does anyone know if we can request to go with a certain group of people? I'm carpooling from south orange county, others will probably be doing the same I assume.. no big deal though, just curious..

when I PM'd Kelly I requested to go with a buddy of mine that's also a registered REDUSER here and she said that was ok, so I suppose if the schedule isn't filled up it shouldn't be unreasonable

The reservations are now closed.

I look forward to meeting all the talented people at RED day. I am eager for an environment teeming with creativity and a passion for the cutting edge of digital film.

I'm confused, I've been registered on REDuser since almost the beginning, is it OK to come to RED day on the 13th or does it require special reservations? Don't want to make the trip and find I can't get in....

The RED Day on Feb 13th was open for anyone to register, so long as they had a real name account on RedUser.net. Due to seating availability, registration was required.

Maximum capacity has been met and registration was closed today at 3:01 P.S.T.

So... maybe for future events there should be a single, locked thread to which we can subscribe for updates. In fact, there should probably be explicit instructions to subscribe to the thread or be at risk for missing the event. Because the last I heard about Red Day before yesterday was:

RED Day on Feb. 13th is for anyone that is registered on reduser. That includes current and future customers.

We had concurrent threads on this event in different areas, most of which consisted of 17 pages of non-official, non-essential traffic, along with several posts in which people asked whether there was anything else they needed to do (which elicited Jim's response above). As soon as the date, time and place were announced (and that there was apparently nothing further to do), I put it on my calendar and went about my business. It was only by chance that I noticed (too late) the recent info about having to register.

I can imagine some people who bought plane tickets are mighty upset. Red does a good job communicating (and interacting) with customers and fans, but there was room for improvement on this one.

Yes, Gavin, I had the same experience... Luckily I live close enough I didn't buy a plane ticket... Oh well, I hope they have it posted on the internet, although I have yet to see the RED ONE projected in 4K and I was looking forward to that....Especially with the new MX sensor....

Yes..there wasn't a single thread..bit of a treasure hunt.
If you're a local maybe there will be a waitlist if they have some cancels.

There was an entire thread devoted to this with a very clear subject heading:

REGISTER: RED DAY, Feb 13

Post #1 from Brent described exactly how to register. While you could make an argument that it could be in a better sub-forum than "RED ONE - General" there was extensive discussion in many other threads (including in the RECON threads where Jim and Jarred both announced this event) about the location of the registration details with links back to the above thread.

It sucks to miss out on something, but don't blame RED for this. There was like ten days between when registration opened and when they finally announced they reached capacity. I don't mean to sound harsh here, but perpetrating the fallacy that RED somehow didn't tell us about this is annoying... and I'm just a reader on this forum.

If you want to see the new gear your next opportunity will be at the Las Vegas REDUser event in April. I'm sure registration details for it will also be clearly posted.

Oh well, I hope they have it posted on the internet...

I understand your feelings. I have asked Ted if he might be able to speak to the many people who cannot make it to the RED Days in LA or Europe. Last night, he agreed to doing another ScarletUser Podcast with us.

This time, we have plans of doing a video podcast so that he may give his speech along with the prototypes to hold up to the webcam.

There will be a minor delay from what the RED Day attendees will see...

...We can do a vid podcast, probably after the 13th date though, perhaps at the Paris venue after that presentation I'm doing, since I want that to happen before I steal any thunder from it :-) That cool by you?

We all should be very grateful to Ted for being so generous to fit this into his busy itinerary throughout Europe.

Thanks Ted! You da man...
