Anyone care to offer up some "non reduser.net" links to help me give the execs on an upcoming job some confidencein RED.

I have compiled a list of "shot on red" films and directors. I am also including a link to the Old Navy commercials Darius Khondji shot.

Where can I find a quote from RED saying Build 15 is an "official release build" and is "out of beta"?

Thanks.

Current issue of Post Magazine has a piece on my company w/ several mentions of Red:

DIGITAL FX

Who has the most awards — Telly’s, Addy’s Emmy’s and more — on their walls in Louisiana? It would be hard to prove you had more than Baton Rouge-based Digital FX (www.digitalfx.tv), they seem to be on shelves everywhere. Headed by production veteran Greg Milneck, the shop boasts four editorial suites, two visual effects rooms, CG animation, audio finishing and a complete digital studio.

The jewel in the Digital FX crown is its new Red One camera and a workflow that gets the rich (but too big for TV) 4K images through post production and on to delivery. Milneck, a film lover who has made the leap to 4K acquisition, will soon be expanding the shop via fiber to handle long-distance film and color work from Dallas and thereby serve visiting producers and others needing digital production capabilities. The revamped Digital FX will offer 72TB of storage and a 4K-capable pipe (while continuing to work, for now, in 2K). While the shop currently provides color grading in Smoke, the plan is to bring in a Lustre.

CG work includes Softimage|XSI modeling and animation for National Geographic shows such as photoreal snakes (that can be broken down anatomically) created by Aaron Michel.

Currently Digital FX is treating unsuspecting local clients, such as family-owned Kleinpeter Farms Dairy, to 4K Red production while Milneck and crew master the new workflow. Red image files go into a Smoke operated by Justin DeLong. Milneck’s upgrade will include a beefed up network to accommodate Red files, but he says, “We love the camera; it was designed for post.”

Build 15 is buggy - watch out using it on a production.

Expect to stick to Build 13 and then fight you way through REDCINE's "Failed to lock image buffer" errors on your footage.

I would love to see the movie from NAB's read booth online for all to see. It will put to rest any reservations anyone has for the RED camera. The upcoming trailers from Soderbergh's two films would be great promo's also.

Even a 720P version for download would be fantastic for me to show some clients.

'The Red Canvas' shot on RED - 4k trailer available

'The Red Canvas' shot on RED - 4k trailer available

Dylan,

We're just finishing one of the first features to be shot on RED (actually two RED ONE's last fall) called 'The Red Canvas' ... mixed martial arts movie with plenty of fight scenes and action.

We prepped a 4k version of the latest 'sizzle trailer' for Ted at NAB .... here's the thread with the details:

Good luck on getting your next gig ... we're just wrapping a commercial shot on RED for Microsoft and Asus .... looks totally stunning.

If you ever want to demo your reel to any producers down here in LA, give me a call and we'll set up a screening for you ... we have a cool DI theater with 33 seats and a 2k DLP projector ... RED never looked so good.

How do you think they dealt with sensor protection and "THE BLACK SPOT" on this one? Post magic?

A little side track, but just curious...

Yes, the black sun was fixed in post. I actually came here to post that since it was shot with our camera #97 (before it became an X) with my partners in crime here on the boards Bret Weeks and Kyle Spicer as DITs.

I wrote an article for Digital Media World (australia) on shooting first commercial in Australia back in feb or march issue, will pm you a pdf...
