Hi, I own a small custom gear making company in the UK. I currently make pouches and Armour carriers for the UK and US forces serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As well as running this company I am an avid film maker/writer so I am a big fan or the Red. I have noticed that there seems to be a lack of protective covers and rain covers on the market and I am thinking of building a prototype for both.

Keeping in mind that all of my equipment is built to millitary specification the covers would be built to last. I also noticed a few servicemen are using the red out in the desert; I use the latest military camo patterns printed onto 1000D Cordura, including Crye precision Multicam, so camo covers could be provided for people who require them.

I would like to hear what you guys thing in terms of a design. As the Red is a modular camera I'm thinking along the lines of a modular cover than can be changed to suit each individual camera.

I would need to meet up with a red owner at some point to take some measurements, so it would be great if any one would be up for it. I live in Oxford, Uk and could travel to meet anywhere in the UK.

Fair warning:

Element Technica makes a really good rain cover.

Not to discourage you, just didn't want you to invest and get blindsided. Make a better / cheaper one and find your market.

Besides the ET Rain cover my partner Erik Espera of Silverado Studios and myself designed and are in the process of manufacturing a Cold Weather/protective cover for the RED One as well as Epic and Scarlet when they roll off the assembly line. We call ours the "Camera Cozy". You can check out our thread here http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27333&highlight=camera+cozy

If you are at NAB we are showing the camera cozy on Silverado's RED camera at the REDUSER party and at the AJA booth where Silverado will be as well demonstrating the new GearedHead.

If you have any questions and wish to speak we would love to hear from you.

That would be great Mike, I would love to have a chat with you at some point.
