Big meanie

After reading your post my Speeds don't want to go out with you anymore  :shiftyph34r: . Seriously though, I won't argue your assessment of the characteristics of the SuperSpeeds but until I can get Master Primes for less than the price of a car - per lens - :ranting2: what are those of us who don't have a ready supply of rental glass to do? :pinch:

As has been discussed elsewhere on this forum, Slow Motion, Inc. in LA is the exclusive dealer for Elite lenses in the US. I do not know for other territories.

I've got a set of Superspeeds MKII as well (65mm is left out, you find it rarely here in Germany and I don't miss it).

I prefer them for various reasons:

1. Well mentained they are as good as new. Best Quality. Cheaper than new UP (you don't get UP used...)

2. Light and small, great for handheld.

3. I love T1.3 No zoom can do this. Often used.

4. T 1.3-2.4 they are, well, soft but nice. Great for faces. At T2.8 they are sharp and contrasty, as all Zeiss.

5. Easy to maintain, maintenance is fairly cheap

Superspeeds Mk II and MkIII are optically the same. Only MK I are different.

I've been thinking about the Elites as well (for me a T 1.3 is almost compulsory for a prime - matter of taste though). A group buy here at reduser turned out to be impossible and as far as I know my Russian friends buying valuable stuff there is not easy at all. And delivertimes, relaibility in this regard? Not to mention customs etc... I think the Elites are optically closer to the Superspeeds than to the MPs. I know the Zeiss quality and I doubt that Elites are on pair with them in this regard. And maintenance... spares...?

I think that prices madness will vanish in a year or so but T 1.3 glass will keep its value some how.

Hans
