I just updated Red Control on my iPhone and the feed is so choppy and laggy it's totally unusable. Up until now it gets slow here and there but it is extremely useful as times. I've heard a few other say they've experienced something similar on the recent app update. Anyone here experience that? Anyway to get it back to how it was? It would be a big bummer if Red Control doesn't work at all anymore.

Whenever I’ve experienced very laggy performance with
RED Control I could usually solve it by either rebooting the phone and sometimes also restarting the camera.

Most times this would solve it.

If you’re in infrastructure mode and using a router, restarting
that may help as well.

Not sure if stability has been enhanced over the latest firmware
builds but I generally have better wireless performance with
Komodo over the past 6 or so months.

Yes, after updating to v1.7.5 my Red Controll turned to pure garbage, totally unuseable. A shame, 'cuz with v1.6.5 ad hoc worked almost flawlessly. Ultimately, I've thrown in the towel and bought a Cine7 with Komodo control. Finally, I have a positive control experience. Good thing the iPhone app was free, 'cuz it isn't worth a plugged nickel.

Ok looks like we have a potential problem that I hope can get fixed.

Contacting RED directly might also be a good move.

I encourage other users to report if they are having issues with the latest 1.7.5 firmware so we can get to the bottom of what's going on.

As for me, I have 2 Komodo's. One is running 1.6.5 and the other had the beta software that became 1.7.5.
I never noticed an issue with the beta though i have not run Ad-hoc on it in a while since I have the Komodo link module
on that particular camera.

I have run both Komodos on infrastructure mode with RED Control Pro on a network generated by a portable router and it seemed fine.
I did notice some issues with 2 other Komodo's owned by other operators on a shoot a few weeks ago but did not get what firmware they are running.

We need solid RED Control so I hope this can get figured out soon.

Sam and Bill,
Did either of you have luck getting better RED Control performance with 1.7.5 in Ad Hoc?

I updated my 2 Komodos to 1.7.5 and so far they both seem to work quite well in Ad Hoc.
Been even testing a bit in High Quality stream mode.
TBH, RED Control actually seems to be a little more responsive.

As an aside, updating firmware through RED Control seems to work very well.
Surprised how something as simple as that takes some of the edge off the normal upgrade method from the memory card.

Will give more feedback when I have more to report.

Been filming for the last week with 2 Komodos on 1.7.5.
I used Ad Hoc mode wireless network connection at different times usually going to both an iPhone 14 and an iPad 2021.
For the most part video streaming to RED Control still generally works quite well.
Streaming video performance seemed to be about the same as I experienced with earlier versions. 85-95% very usuable depending on wireless traffic.
If anything it might be slightly better.

Performance of RED Control as an app feels slightly faster and just more robust. Double tapping on the video image to toggle from small to full screen feels more responsive.

Still have some situations where the streaming picture doesn't come up when starting the RED Control app.
Been experiencing this since the day one with the app.
Closing out and restarting RC usually fixes but it can be a headache when in a time sensitive situation which honestly
is what most paid work is.
Would be good if there was a way within the app to manually "reboot or reconnect" the streaming feature if a picture does not come up.
Not sure if this is the correct terminology but if whatever RC does to get a picture when starting the app can be done when the app is already open but has a blank image then that would be nice.
Sometimes embarrassing when I fire up the camera and RC, see no picture, and to be frantically swiping through my phone to close, restart, reconnect as the set and/or clients are waiting.

Build 1.7.5 feels solid.
Any bugs I experienced in the beta are fixed.
Still hope there will be some additional firmware enhancements like:

1) 3K modes with higher frame rates (somewhere between 75-100 fps?)
2) 5K 16:9
3) Slower shutter settings below 1/24.

These are my findings and suggestions.
