With the recent additions to RED CineX pro and Resolve on windows I am looking for a grading/editing solution to work round trip with CS5.5 but have run into some problems.
Currently what I'm trying to do - Windows 7
-Edit in CS5.5 - including cross fades and the occasional alpha key framing. Maybe a speed adjust.
-Export a FCP XML from CS5.5
-Import FCP XML into RED CINE X, perform grade and export the edited clips with handles to a new folder. ( I notice at this point that my crossfades and alpha keyframe does not show up, as I was expecting, but I'm hoping the information is still in the XML)
-After all individual clips have been rendered I export a new XML to go back to premiere.
Here is where I run into issues. When importing back into premiere the new xml gets an uknown error. If I open the original XML it opens fine, just the one from RED CINE will not open.
If I am able to figure out a way to open the XML, will my cross fades, alpha keys and speed adjustments still be included?
If not, is there a way to link the new exported clips to replace the old r3D files. Since the new clips are much shorter I can't simply use the replace clip command.
For the last couple years I have been doing all online editing, so doing an offline edit seems to elude me. If anyone has any insight, I would love to pick their brain.
