So I got an LG Dare a couple of days ago and discovered it has a video feature to record at 120 fps. It can only do 320x240 but it's still pretty incredibly to have on a cell phone.
It made me think that if RED made a cell phone it would be incredible, although cell phones really aren't their field. But I bet it would have a bad ass camera mode on it! :sifone: Also they could probably put in features to where you can control your camera with it like a mini Redmote. I bet there is a long list of integrations that they could come up with.

Not sure if the idea is even possible for them to do at all, anyone else think this would be worth developing for red though? My own opinion is probably not, but we can dream right?

I've often wondered if it would be possible to apply Red's sensor and compression technology to mobile video. In particular, I am wondering if you could achieve a shallow depth of field by engineering the tiny lens and tiny sensor in combination. 320 x 240 (or 640 x 480) has a lot of uses for video teleconferencing, mobile news gathering and etc.

In other words, could you just take a 1/16 or 1/32 subsection of the Red Sensor, design an appropriate fixed lens and then use same R3D raw compression to provide the best possible mobile video with shallow depth of field, incredible dynamic range and raw capabilities?
