How long has this been in store for ?(i must be out of touch) i know there was a trade off a while back with the laser cut pelican but nothing official now their available in store ... straight up ! Red you blow my mind ! this is going to be great for its long haul overseas to a good home here in oz .i cant help but feel for the people who got in early and miss out on curtain post luxuries such as a case and numerous developments but at least they've got one in hand and i guess they'd have first dibs on supplies ...anyways Im just elated!

Hey Khristian,

The only thing about the RED case I don't like is that you have to completely disassemble it to get it in there.

A couple of guys have designed cases that you can leave the body built, just add rods when you pull it out. This would be a big time saver.

Ketch has been talking about designing a case but his Dubai plans may have delayed it!

Here are a few posts that talk about it:

Red is delivered in cardboard boxes, but it is so well packed and wrapped that no Pelican case would be a close enough substitute. Really. When you get it, you will know what I mean. It took me two hours to unwrap :clown2:

I'd like it if we could get dimension data files to have laser-cut foam made... Maybe RED could supply this data to Pelican Products or other manufacturer. I want to get some cases and have the foam cut to fit my specific kit, but haven't had the time to do all the measuring, figuring, etc.. I'm probably going to suck it up and buy the cases with pick and pluck foam for now, but I hate that stuff.

if you really wanted to be tricky about it you could get some 3d scanning softwares , take a picture from every angle and build your model in say 3dmax then you'd could export those object/file measurements and take a walk down to your local foam cutter (every town has one, lol) . the bonus you now have a 3d model of your very own red (every owner has one )

zacuto has some options. although i can't find the red 'studio' case, its pretty much looks like the same as this picture. You can assemble the camera and put it in the case and pop it out for shooting anytime.
