RED Camera + Accessory Bags

Thanks Steve, that is helpful! I might pick up some of these soon.

Hi

Sarah is away for a few days and has asked me to answer the queries.

Kwan, always nice to see you on the forum .. no plans for a Rain Cover. Others seem to be doing a good job of that.

Steve S, as far as shipping, yes its pretty steep. EMS Post is the most cost effective trackable option. The issue is shipping cost is calculated on volume which makes a boxed set just under 4 kg as opposed to the 1.5 kg actual weight. Maybe in the fullness of time a US Distributor may pick these up which will substantially lower shipping costs, but for now .... same as us buying our RED Accessories, always a minimum of 100 USD to get it here.

Gibby, thanks for your detailed comments, pleased the gear is doing its designed job for you. Sarah thought the EVF sleeve was correctly sized for the ET bracket based on dimensions helpfully supplied by ET, but we did not have one here to test. Sounds like it does fit but it could be looser ? As far as the Drive Pouches go, a solution has been designed that will allow the Shock mount to remain on, plus a couple of other alterations people have suggested. Jury is out though on whether to commit to more product just at the moment.

Thanks again guys for the comments.

The drive pouches are fine - but I use the ET Shock Mounts on my RED drives, with ET Speedy Clamps, and I leave the Shock Mounts permanently attached to each of my drives. The RED drive, with the Shock Mount attached won't fit in the drive pouch Sarah makes.

Here is an idea. What about a drive pouch that allows the ET shock mounts to be fully functional and a second that covers the drive, mounts and the first pouch with the cut-outs. This would allow for extra protection for your footage, especially with the 640GB drives and it could double as a weather bag for cold weather. For hot weather you simply take both off. You'll still be happy to pay for double the cushion protection when you move with valuable footage.

Of course people would have to buy both new pouches, but the ET products are very popular. The drive pouch you have now would be perfect for a Red Ram which needs no shock mounts.

Roberto,

Thanks for your suggestions. As always food for thought. There is a design for the shock mount to remain mounted. Also the drive pouch was always promoted as a ram pouch also, in fact that was where the grey color came from, to allow people to identify the ram amongst the drive pouches.
As for the outer cover, time will tell if demand exists then it could be possibly be done.

After reading about a few desert shoots, it might be a good idea to make a camera sleeve out of reflectix material for shooting in hot weather.

Hi Roger,

Sorry about the delay in my reply, from memory you should look for the "Camera Cozy" people, I think they were making something reflective for the sun as well as protection sleeves for cold weather.
