So redbull's latest endeavor has been to break the record for the fastest/highest free-fall hoping to break the speed of sound. They are doing it by launching a maned balloon into the stratosphere and then jumping from there. More information can be found here http://www.red.com/news/red-bull-stratos-project-shot-on-red . It was supposed to happen today but unfortunately got delayed due to weather conditions.
I was looking at the technical details of the flight and they claim to have 3 cameras capable of taking 4k footage and 120fps at 2k, those specs don't really line up with either the scarlet or the epic, the scarlet only able to shoot 60fps at 2k and the epic capable of 300fps at 2k. RED however says the event will be shot on RED.
I was just wondering what was up with this.
I am also curious as to the preparation on the camera end of this. What was done to the cameras to insure that they will operate properly under these new and probably never before experienced conditions? Where are the cameras mounted? I look forward to the images that will come from this, Lord willing it happens still.
