My RED brick charger (5 years old) has begun working intermittently. I traced the issue to the socket where the power cord plugs in in the back of the unit – some jiggling will get it to work. I called RED today, and they said they don't repair them and just tell people to buy a new one if it's outside the 1-year warranty. I'd hardly call a $550 item disposable outside of a 1-year warranty. I did snag a new one off of eBay, but would like to have this one looked at and hopefully repaired.

These do look like other chargers on the market, so who makes these for RED? Hopefully they will service it.

Mine broke while on set a couple weeks ago, it wasn't even 2 years old. It was a stressful situation since everything we being powered via our RED Bricks and we no longer had a way to charge them, we were also in the middle of nowhere Texas.

RED said the same to me, even told me it would be upwards of $500+ if I wanted to get it fixed, they also said regardless of fixing it, they would charge me $100 just to look at it.

So I have since then purchase 2 of the Core SWX chargers. So in case one of them breaks on me, I have a spare on set. So far they work great and they come with a 3-year warranty.

Pretty sure they are rebadged Blue Shape ones, but not a current model, so probably no longer supported. But worth asking anyway.

They're pretty simple inside, so any competent electronics engineer should be able to fix them for you, as long as it's not the chip with the proprietary firmware which has died.

Blueshape was what I was thinking.

Fortunately, someone reached out through reduser offering to have a go at fixing it for me.

Thanks!

You can probably open it up and solder on a new connector if that's the issue.

Realistically it's a $100 product. A cheap new one with good reviews should work just as well as a Red model.
