Whoo-hoo! (Now I just need a couple more dollars so I can get that darn 4K projector or monitor I have been wanting. I will have to look under the seats in my car.......)

Seriously though. This is pretty cool stuff.

This was announced the same time the RED ROCKET was... several months ago...

It can absolutely be used for onset monitoring. At the moment on a MacPro but some people already have it working on MacBook Pros using PCIe expansion.

And you can do 4k DVI without the breakout, which can easily be converted to HDMI.

I would suggest the breakout is needed for 4k SDI.

But that's only with a Red Rocket setup, after you transfer the files. I think that by 'onset monitoring' people were talking more about viewing straight from the camera on record and playback.

Woot!! But Ill be more excited when Apple and others announce they
are supporting and integrating the Red Rocket.
