Could red batteries be used on a normal camera. I want to buy them for my hpx 500. Do I need the red charger, because I already have some v-mount chargers.

Don't know for sure but I've seen Red V-lock batteries on Panasonic mini-monitors without any problems. Not sure about charging them on other manufacturer's chargers though...

I think it' be pretty sweet to have the red logo on the back of my cam.

Yes, I use them on my Sony DV camera. But never charged them on anything but the RED charger.

I used some generic one and it was just fine.
From what I heard they all work just fine, but double check for the Red warranty.

Well, you could always try using other chargers, but the first bullet point on the back of the RED batteries is " ONLY CHARGE WITH RECOMMENDED RED CHARGERS" or something like that. Just beware, thats a big risk with a $500 battery.

Some chargers work, some dont. The IDX ones we tried do, the Swift ones do not. Before you buy, just give it a go and make sure.

Jarred, I assume you meant Swit instead of Swift. Or are you referring to Switronix (not to be confused with Swit)? And for anyone out there who has noticed Varizoom's line of batteries & chargers, these are rebadged Swit products.
