I haven't seen anyone use the battery belt clip and I haven't heard anything about it on the forum. I got it with my Red One last week (finally!!!!), and it's been great for handheld. I have the cradle from the basic production pack and the quickplate; they're both nice, but getting the battery and mount weight off the camera and on to my belt has made handheld much more comfortable (shooting to CF, of course, though you could mount the Red Drive on the cam and still have the battery on the belt).

It's not shown on the main accessory page, so you have to choose "Batteries & Power" under accessories. If you do much handheld, it's definitely worth checking out, along with the CF rods. I saw them at Red Day last week; very sweet, much better than I expected. And super light.

Just thought I'd mention this.

Excellent advise.

Even if you are super strong, it is much more comfortable getting that weight of the battery off of the camera.

Wish I could have been there last week.... gotta keep saving for more of all these amazing new products coming out....

I've found all sorts of uses for the belt batter pack, most of them not on my belt though. Here is one, put it at at the fulcrum of a short jib to reduce the head weight.

what cord do you get with this or do you need to buy a separate battery to camera cord? Any suggestions on where to buy? Is it a standard connection etc etc...?

Yeah, Red Day was good. Very good. I know what you mean - so much to save for!

Ditto Evan's comment. I didn't have my baseplate or top mounts to start with, so I had to use the battery belt clip at first. It was really nice having the battery separate from the camera for uses where we're trying to reduce weight on the head.
