  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED at IBC: what a delusion

My full name is at the end of the mail, no secrets here. I asked red people to change the login name because I was not able to change it myself but it has not been done up to now. Maybe I sent the request to the wrong address.

Changing to your real name is easy. Just reply to this thread here with your real name. The RED people will take care of it.

Im not gonna defend IBC because as Stuart mentioned.. Me and Jim, who normally wouldn't have gone, flew in last minute because of Ted's health problems.. We did not go because of the actual show, we went because of our customers. The customers mean the world to us and we wanted to show them what we were up to. I know we may of looked like a bunch of cowboys showing up to the Royal Opera , but we are glad we went and we met alot of our great customers we normally would not have a chance to meet.

I understand red wants to be always exceptional but there is time to be excentric and time to be just regular.

Stefano.. this one I am afraid to tell you that you will always be disappointed. We have no desire at all to be like everyone else.

As for the RED one... I am sorry you have had so many problems. We are learning every day how to make things better, and that is why we are making sure Epic is cooked a little longer before releasing it like we did with the RED ONE. It is incredibly hard to make a camera like we have..RED ONE relied on an incredible amount of bleeding edge innovation and technology. Nobody else has ever done it, even companies with armies of hundreds and thousands of engineers...

I know some of you frown upon the Red One.. but we are incredibly proud of our first camera out and what it has accomplished.

Industry tradeshow dillema...

Industry tradeshow dillema...

I really like my camera and the unmatched service. I do find it odd that Red went from "vaporware" tradeshow darling to complete avoidance of industry equipment showcases once the product actually existed. I do hope to see you guys at Cinegear next year with a proper booth. Be a part of the industry that you are a (big) part of...

I dont agree at all. The RED not having a booth must have saved 1000's of $$$$ and that money can be spent upon research etc. etc. A 3sq mtre 9ftx9ft is approaching $6k a booth the size of RED last seen size would be more than the price of 10 cameras.
The Red team came over did a lecture or so and met lots of people. What more do you guys want? You all know what the cameras look like and if you went to a well known German company all you could see was a greybox with lenses and attachments. Getting a chat was terribly difficult as so many people wanted to look. Brochures were useful but most of all, How many of us can afford the $200k needed to set up and shoot with those cameras which may not surface until well after NAB next year. Wanna take any bets? [IBC 2010]
Following after the NAB slow show, why not take a break from IBC? To be honest it was not as busy as was predicted and the figure 20% down is hard to believe. As an exhibition attendee of very many years I would say 40% at least.
I had a great 5 days and learnt an awful lot but to be honest it was Hall 11 that did the biz as it was all front end kit. The other halls whilst interesting were all about
"controlling your images and content in a multifaceted transmission future" Nuff said!!

Im very proud to own Red one, so you guys should be justly very proud to have built it, and quite rightly so. It changed out business for the better and our whole out look on the world.

Everyone was warned at the very beginning, and Red offered everyone the option to take possesion of the R1 very soon, if you have any knowledge what it feels like to have equipment in the early stage, you must know , that not everything will work as it should be....

I've had the sony ex-1's since they came out , and I discovered some huge problems along the road as well.

I've had the same with JVC's, which even denied there was going something very wrong.

The least I could say is, that Jim and Jarred have been there on IBC and have tried to inform us as much as possible and did a very great job.

ehehehehe that's why the gang loves you :001_smile:

I sometimes get very frustrated with some of the issues with RED.... but that's only because I love the damn camera so much that I am too passionate about it....lol.... ;-)

I would like to thank RED for ruining my ability to shoot with anything else and turning me into a real "RED snob"...I now find myself refusing to shoot with any other cameras and I sometimes even "look down" at people using JVC, sonys or Panys.... : "what?.....you are not shooting RAW?....You are nothing but a low life....don't talk to me....you are not worthy...."
:tongue_smilie:

Seriously guys...thanks for a great camera, great support and looking forward to the Epic and Scarlet!

There will be more pressure from Red about a sold introduction for the new Scarlets and Epics. The last time though great, was still a prototype and was their fist time ever. This time the level, or bar, is set even higher. If, or should I say When, Red ships the new cameras that are flawless without bugs and fully enabled, that will change everything.

For What It's Worth

For What It's Worth

I have been using my Red One on and off for most of a year. I can honestly say that I haven't encountered a single problem that was the camera's fault. I'm sorry to hear that some others have had a number of problems, but I'm one of many who has had wonderful experiences using the Red One. Before I got my Red camera I had used 35mm cameras exclusively and I can tell you that film cameras (and film labs) periodically cause you grief. At least so far, I am so happy with the Red One that I have NO intention of trading it in on one of the new Red cameras.

:iagree:

Recently I had a problem with my RED and had to send it for repairs. I was forced to shoot an ad with a non-RED camera. Now every time I look at that ad on TV I cringe. Not that the visuals are bad but I know just what RED would have been able to achieve. I was so  I went ahead and bought another RED :emote_happyhappy: so that I will always have a back-up.

Once you go RED..
