  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ARMOR

M8 Has been RED ARMORED... ;)

I just can't stress the fact of importance in having such extended warranty on your camera,
you have no idea how fast it can repay itself if and when anything at all goes wrong with such a complex piece of Electronic such as the EPIC,
give yourself a HUGE FAVOR, get it!! Don't regret it!!

I definitely will, Ketch! Just wished I could order it later!

If you were doing yourself a huge favor RED would be losing money on it. More accurately, a bunch of you are doing one of you a big favor. ;) (Statistically speaking)

?? You lost me Gavin... ;)

But to me always having a Valid Warranty is a big plus no matter what, it is professional gear we sue on professional very demanding environments so warranty is a must, period.

Depends on how many cameras you own. The price of RED Armor = (Average Cost of Repairs each year * 2) + Profit. In exchange for RED (and most likely the insurer's) profit you get to spread the risk so while most people won't see the money back on their ARMOR, the 'lucky minority' who do need repairs most likely need repairs that cost more than armor. You're distributing risk but on average coming out behind, like insurance.

Yep, but that's just how insurance works -- if it didn't, they wouldn't be very profitable now would they? ;-)

It seems like any problems arising from defective parts will most likely show up within the first year, no? So that means how likely are you going to need repairs on problems that are the result of "normal wear and tear" that crop up in the 2nd and 3rd year, and how likely are these repairs going to cost over $3k. Also most likely (I hope) with the build quality of RED products you will need no repairs at all. So it's a gamble, do you spend $3k now and risk wasting that money, or do you not spend it now and risk having to spend it later an repairs in a lesser OR greater amount....

Where did you get 3k from?

Why did red change from let us buy red armor with in 1 year to before delivery? Could have just shortened it instead.
Red armor or insurance is a tuff beat.

Is there an official document that has the complete Terms & Conditions for Epic-M Armor? Having a hard time making sense out of the thread bits

Would be good to get the clear breakdown of what RED Armor covers.
Ketch do you have the breakdown of the coverage you just purchased?

seems there is no real information on what RED Armor covers, its strange people would purchase this blindly.

If your insurance company covers equipment failure please could you PM me or email me at rory"at"minefilms"dot"com as I'd like to know the details of that insurance company to check it out myself.

Thanks in advance

Well here's quite an interesting bit...

Red products are compatible with Red software, Red parts, and Red products only. Use of any software, parts, or products other than Red or Red approved software, parts, and products voids any and all warranties.
