I've been looking at a few M42 adapters (including the seemingly-excellent Allstar A-mount system). My question for the forum is this: With the exception of lens adapters that are 'authorised' by Red, is the use of any other adapters (either budget or pro) likely to void the warrenty of a Scarlet / Epic?

Martin: I would think that would apply to mounts that attached directly to the EPIC/Scarlet/Red in place of the official Red mount or an approved 3rd party mount (Visual Products, A-star, Optitek, etc). That would not (correct me if I am wrong) apply to adapters attached to a lens. For example, if I put a Canon FD to EF adapter on one of my beloved FD mount lenses and mounted that on a Scarlet with a RED Canon EF mount, I would not expect my warranty to be voided. That is an EF mounted-lens attaching to an official RED EF mount.

Its an important distinction because there are a large number of M42 adapters that fit almost every camera mount system ever made, inluding an A-star M42 mount.

Ah yes, Michael - you actually put it more precisely than I had originally. I meant an adaptor on the lens (a la FD fit to EF ) and then going in to a 'standard' Red Canon Al mount
