  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED always needs secondary correction? Huh?

Amen, brother!
You wouldn't screen a neg either, would you?

so i would assume ur on set work with all the cameras was, roll, action, cut, gr8 work everyone.?

that doesn't mean that u actually worked with these cameras same as Disaster Movie is not considered a movie, even if it had a theatrical release and has movie in the title.lol

Amrrahmy, why are you always so rude on this forum? I have yet to read a post from you that is informative or polite.

If you don't have anything helpful to say, don't say anything. :angry01:

So amrrahmy - since you are taking body shots : what are your qualifications - do you own a Red?, Do you make your living from shooting? I thought you helped out at your papa's advertising agency making coffees for people and getting their sandwich?

Plus if you had ever worked on a set you would know that the fist AD calls roll action and cut. If you need any more tips from me about filmmaking don't hesitate to ask. Meanwhile go back to your naruto cartoons.

u dont get the point, ur work on the set is not visible between, roll, action, cut. it's not there!!
i have used allot of film and hd cameras.
i make adds and shorts, also making an animation feature right now.

i have seen allot of videos and footage to see too many flaws with the camera, and not seeing the footage ur recording with accuracy creates a chain reaction with unbinding proportions.too many limitation and constriction to what u can shoot, and what time can u shoot it. plus the added pre and post checking every shot compared to other camera.making pri-correction to a footage also has it's own problems, when u shift something it will shift another, like the example, if the back is in the same block of colors of skin tones, and u needed to shift the image to get the skin tone it will shift the background to something that u might not notice, or think is bad, but a good colorist or supervisor has to tell the producer about.it is noticeable to the average viewer!. u might not spend allot of time adjusting the background to the perfect color and have a specific distance in color between the foreground. other more professionals do. it might not be something in ur little guide how to be a cinematographer, it's something for the next level, u might not be there yet.some people have goals when shooting, and others have bigger visions.

also it's not my dad's company, it was built after he died, it's my company, i just choose not to get paid, to use the money in better things.
and i wont be able to watch naruto this week, my computer died few days ago, and the new one wont be here for another week:(.

Amhrammy - you say you have used a lot of film cameras. How is what you are describing (not knowing what the footage is going to look like while shooting on set) any different than working with ANY film camera?

In both cases it's all about the processing - now, film has been around longer and has more established standards - but until you get it back from the lab you never know quite what you are going to get.

Sending it to a bad lab is just like doing a bad Red ONE post workflow - you won't get what you wanted.

However, the overall point of this thread IS a good one - Red Workflow is not WYSIWYG - it's much more than that. If you REALLY need to be limited to only WYSIWYG, and don't want to do any post colour correction at all, and don't trust Red Ones look in Rec709 compared to other cameras that ONLY live in Rec709 - then I can see you going with another camera.

and others have bigger visions.

Cool amrrahmy - show me your "bigger vision" - show me something you have shot. my reel is at www.jamestmather.com - where is yours? Otherwise you're just another idiot on the internet spouting off with nothing to back it up.

it might not be something in ur little guide how to be a cinematographer

Sure amrrahmy - I am also represented by ICM London and William Morris Los Angeles as a director and have been paid to write 2 feature scripts this year for Rogue Pictures/Universal Studios and Europacorp (Luc Besson co-writing) which we are also slated to direct. Please tell me what your bigger vision has been up to this year.

Plus from your post "i have seen a lot of videos..." - you haven't actually even used the Red camera have you?

From the style of writing I can`t help but bet that "amrrahmy" is from india, not egypt. This poor writing..." r u thinking i m kiddin?" reminds me of my relatives. Please write in full words and keep a certain standart.

no one said anything about the subject, or implied that anything i said was actually wrong, cuz its not (yes i typed cuz on purpose, it's not a typo- that's how u text- u actually typed standard wrong, weak!!!).
we dont do reels from films, or adds, we dont keep any material that belongs to customers.i'm doing my own animated feature, but it's still in early stages, i can post some stuff in a couple of weeks probably, but it wont have sound.

u can measure film with accuracy, using the stock and lens type to a camera.

i said i dont have reels, but if ur interested to see something i did, i did some inter adds, i did a loreal hair dye thing in 2006, and some vfx to new chev(daweo) last summer - dont know if that was aired in us. i dont keep track of what happens to the finished projects

i do shorts, i dont think u had the pleasure of seeing one, they were not inter published, the animated feature will have a series following the events that will be aired and available on the net, but that's a little bit in the future.

i' have only been working for 7 years, although i dont think how much work will make any diff, if ur not good today, what makes u think u will be, in 100 years, nothing will change, u will still be the same *****.

talent and vision has nothing to do with how many shoots u did, if u were not good the first time, ur will always be bad.
u cant change it, ur stuck with being a *****, and stop arguing outside the topic subject.
