I opened up some files in Red Alert, did a CC to brighten and stretch lattitude from the original Redspace default and saved the new proxies. These proxies are darker than the original default redspace proxies even though my new correction is much brighter than that. This happens in Final Cut as well as quicktime player. Anybody seen this?

No support for Curves yet in the proxies, if that is what you are using to adjust the image. Can't wait til there is... that is definitely my preferred way of working with them.

I'd suggest adjusting brightness, contrast and saturation to get prettier Quicktimes. Generally they will look a little washed out in RedAlert and look right in Quicktime.

I hear what you guys are saying, but I did brighten up the image more than what looked right in Red Alert. For some reason it's making it come out EXTREMELY dark, darker than the camera generated proxies which are darker than the grade I did. This didn't seem to be happening on another computer I was using although the gamma would change when I started and stopped the clip in Final Cut and that was a prores output.

If your redcode is the latest, it seems that Your quicktime or macpro system isnt upgraded. I have the exact same thing before i upgrade the macpro system. After upgraded it's alright.

QT proxies will always seem darker than what you open in RA or RC, The proxies is closer / match resemblance to REC709 and seems not to understand Red space.

These are 2 different things

Did you check your ASA? This has happened to me as well when the DP wanted to try shooting the RED at ASA 800...the quicktimes looked dark as heck, because the ASA setting was not adjusted in REDalert.
