I'm looking to doing a red aerial shoot instead of a 1920x1080 HD over London. Need to film various locations like the Eye, Big Ben, Shard etc and am keen to get as much detail in my shots as possible.

What i'm after is recommendation of who to use and some tips on how best to do it. I've found a couple of places that shoot red with a wescam which seems to fit the bill. I've had a search around, but can't find much info, but do remember seeing some threads on this a while back.

All input greatly received :)

TIA, Simon

I work with these guys when doing Red aerial projects and they even shoot Epic3D:

Their balloon is really safe and can get really close to monuments or buildings, they get flying permits without much trouble even in very sensitive locations (they shot Notre Dame in Paris for instance).

When do you need to shoot this piece cause it also depends on the wind ;)

Simon,

In London you should contact Jeremy Braben and HFS http://www.helicopterfilm.tv/
They are Nettman agent and have Stab C and Super G, 5 axis gyro that takes any camera, including 3D Rigs.

If there systems are busy we could come down with our Stab C.

good luck

I'd second Peter's recommendation, I operated JB's wescam with Red inside on its first outing over London 5 years or so ago.

Bear in mind that you'll need a twin engine heli (as355) which will enable clearance down to 750ft, which JB can provide.

London is pretty compact but there are a million things to shoot :)

No sensible place to land in town as landing fees in Battersea heliport are £500 plus £450 to park for a few hours ! Waiting days or weeks for good weather at the golden hour is common.
