I bought one of these from Michael last spring and it is a very useful item.
This is perhaps the best way of dealing with the RED 1's slow boot times. This is a single V mount battery plate that contains a low capacity built in battery that allows one to change the battery while the camera is still running. Not powering down to change batteries can be quite critical on time sensitive shoots (which is like every shoot). You can basically have your RED running non stop the whole shoot day.

This is one of the best accessories I ever bought for my RED 1 (3rd to the MX upgrade and the Birger Mount).

For $300, I highly recommend this.
