  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED 707 - Abu Dhabi Shoot Out

Dude.. i love the way your rocking the side handles to hold the cradle.. very bad ass. Nice work.

thanks Jarred... i figured i'd rather have em on the side.. the wires would be free-er, and i'd get to tweak the image with the joystick and the buttons back there to my heart's content, i wouldn't risk having to move or push any wires around if i had put reddrive and the redbattery on the top rails... leave the wires and the sockets free and uncluttered. even though i must say that the sockets you guys have chosen for this camera... and so tight and locked in not even an elephant can pull em off.

i also gotta say that the lcd.. is revolutionary.. i can see it clearly in daylight. the zoom in button.. really helps focusing... and its so dead on... it's so high res it really gets you to see the image clearly and help you focus.
its sweeet.

oh yeah.. still cameras can really fool you... they can make the red one look really as small as an hdv camera at times... when ITS NOT. THIS CAMERA IS BIG and HEAVIER and bigger than a god-damned sony digi-beta with a lens on... well bassam and i put so much on it... maybe that's why

I really like the cage... ive put two behind the camera.. and two right next to the pl mount ... the sensor area... so that i can cover the camera from all the sides incase it falls + it keeps it tight in place on the rails... i'm not a big fan of screwing things into holes around this camera... actually any camera for that matter.

Looking sweet guys!

I just moved to Dubai to start a film division and have a RED on its way, any chance I could take a look next time?

I'll bring swedish specialties like knäckebröd and caviar. :)

Where exactly are you starting a film division?

I'm not sure if you know but I thought the same thing when I got #378. Turns out that the LEMO connectors are rock solid until you pull them by the silver grip part around the plug, which actually pulls in the locking pins when pulled backwards. At that point they come out easily. It's an elegant system that is rock solid when in and only comes out if you actually want it to come out.

Big congrats on getting your cam up and running. You must be a happy man!

I like the "organic" look even when the focus puller goofed like in the last clip ........................ :sarcasm:

Do you have a project planned?

Nice stuff! Good luck on those projects!

Excellent. You guys should head out to some scenic spots like the deserts or the let us see more of the cities around there. What is that gigantic wide lens in the first shot of you?

Cool stuff! Actor, film maker, photographer, folk guitar and slide guitar player, I live in Al Ain, have Fridays and Saturdays as my days off, and would love to hang out and work with you if you would consider having another coffee drinker around. Thanks.
