Very nice. How much did the red camera weigh? Did it feel light on your Steadicam?
I wonder what gadget they use to feed the SD monitor on that Master rig...Simple HD-SDI downconverter?
Update: From one of the pictures it looks like a small AJA downconverter mounted in the Reddrive bay of the battery mount. Ahh, 4k>480i composite.....
Ah, mr. Grant. Didn't recognize you from the stills.
:nerd: Great, was a little confused though I wasn't wearing my contacts
Will be interesting to see when the first RED shot makes it onto steadishots.org...
Ha... I'd hope not. It's not me! The operator in those particular photos is Alec Jarnagin. The rig is mine, however. Alec shot the majority of the shots and then handed it off to me to grab a couple more.
More reports to come as we get more pictures back.
Alec Jarnagin is a bad ass... he did a 5 min+( I believe) no edit (only until the very end) steadi cam shot on Rescue Me recently w/ smoke, fire, hallway mazes and moveable walls that seemed effortless to execute... Mad Respect!!
... for those that do not know... I do not know him, I just respect his work a great deal.
Thanks Andrew! I'll pass your comments along to Alec. He'll be glad to hear you're a fan. Alec has actually done three excellent oners in the current season of Rescue Me (one is up on SteadiShots now, the other two will come soon). That's in addition to a ton of other "regular" Steadicam work on the show. Much respect is given to Dennis Leary as well whose idea it was to begin incorporating shots like that into the show. I don't know Dennis personally, but Alec reports he is an extremely professional and camera conscious actor - the type with whom we camera operators enjoy working.
Best Regards,
Afton

Did you try to fire up the Camera from the Battery on the sled, seems to be a AB Hytron which should be fine with RED. Or would that be to less weight for the master arm ?
