I have recently received some footage that was mistakenly shot at 29.97. I am looking to find a workflow for Avid enabling me to still offline edit in 23.98.

Acquisition:
RED ONE, Build 21
4K, 29.97

Ideal Solution:
1920x1080 23.98 in Avid for offline
But still able to relink back to the original Raw media.

I have tried:
- Exporting through RocketCineX
- Importing into Metacheater/Selecting 30to24 and saving ALE
- Importing this ALE into Avid and it seems to work in the sence that it advances to the next second in the TC after 23 frames. Although I am wondering if this will now be able to match back to the raw?
- Attempting to duplicate the Source TC column into the TC30 column gives me an error msg.

If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

You can try converting from 30p to 24p, but the results will not be pretty. A software like Twixter (http://www.revisionfx.com/products/twixtor/) will do the conversion, but it must create tween frames, which often causes nasty looking smeared images. There are really not too many viable options here. Sorry...

v4 will allow for mixed frame rate and maintain all the source metadata for lists. Open 29.97 files in a 29.97 project to start, then open that bin in the 23.976 project. Conversion happens upon edit into the timeline.
