Description (Red)
The RED® 3-Axis Lens Control System is a turnkey wireless solution for driving focus, iris, and zoom operations. This system includes the RED T.H.C. (Tactical Hand Controller), RED W.M.D. (Wireless Motor Driver), and 3x RED Lens Control Motors that fit both 19mm and 15mm rail systems. Engineered for flexibility and convenient operation, the RED 3-Axis Lens Control System delivers precision lens control on nearly any camera configuration.
RED LENS CONTROL MOTOR
The RED Lens Control Motor is a high-performance, medium torque motor that is ideal for low profile lens control systems. Dovetail mounting slots on both sides of the motor and a robust mounting bracket provide rigid and adaptable support that is easy to configure for 19mm or 15mm rail systems. A pivoting thumbscrew on the mounting bracket enables quick mounting and removal without the need to remove your matte box or other rail accessories. A 300° pivot-and-lock connector allows the motor cable to be maneuvered out of the way for optimum cable routing. Interchangeable lens drive gears (m 0.8) are keyed and magnetically lock in place to prevent disengagement during operation. Designed with strict performance requirements for noise, torque, and power consumption, this lightweight motor is also compatible with third-party motor drivers using the appropriate RED motor cable.
RED W.M.D. (WIRELESS MOTOR DRIVER)
The RED W.M.D. drives up to three RED Lens Control Motors and is the hub of the RED 3-Axis Lens Control System. The W.M.D. provides advanced control with adjustable torque, speed, lens calibration profiles, and wireless settings. Metadata support is also built in, allowing focus, iris, and zoom lens data to be written directly to the .R3D file. The W.M.D. mounts to most camera rigs and housings using a built-in 1/4-20 thumbscrew or a removable v-lock mounting bracket. It supports start/stop functions, tally, timecode, genlock, 2-Pin LEMO or 4-Pin XLR power, and expansion for camera accessories. The W.M.D. is also compatible with most professional grade third-party motors.
RED T.H.C. (RED TACTICAL HAND CONTROLLER)
The RED T.H.C. is a fully wireless remote solution to control focus, iris, and zoom. The T.H.C. communicates wirelessly with the RED W.M.D. via a dedicated wireless control link at distances up to 1000 ft, and is capable of wired operation over much longer distances. Convenient limit and lock controls allow any of the lens functions to be fine-tuned on-the-fly, or locked out while multiple operators perform lens adjustments. With the integrated RUN (start/stop) button and tally support, the T.H.C. is ideal for jib or Steadicam shots, and enabling focus pullers to perform precision lens operations remotely. The T.H.C. can also be paired with and communicate with the REDLINK® Bridge, allowing for wireless focus and iris control when using motorized Canon and Nikon lenses.
