I'm curious about how the upgrade will work.... http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=37011&page=2 post 17 (sorry, I don't know how to link to a specific post) says that you had to transfer ownership before last October 30 to qualify for Epic-X. Otherwise, you'll just get the $17,500 towards the standard S35 Epic (stage 4).

Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding this... If I am, I'm definitely interested... I'll come and get it. Thanks!

I think most people are dealing with this with a lease-to-own arrangement.
Basically an agreement is signed that after such and such a date (after Epic delivery), the camera would be signed over. However, I'm not interested in receiving payments on the camera. The purchase price would have to be up front. Obviously we would have to prepare the proper documents etc.

Van is correct, many folks are following the lease pathway. Another solution is to write an option contract. Ie. the transaction should basically be structured as "option to purchase".

The potential buyer pays the potential seller an amount of money to purchase the option (think traditional financial instruments like calls and puts). In Van's case, I am assuming its the full price he is looking for.

Once the upgrades and/or stage executions are completed by Van, then the buyer can "call" his option at a strike price (say $1.00). At that point, the ownership would transfer via the terms of the option contract.

This is similar to the way the real estate land deals are transacted.

Note, I have simplified the example above, there are a few things that need to be addressed in the transaction, but you get the idea.
