  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red 18-50 and 50-150 zooms

For about 5 minutes (back in the day) B&H sold a 'Digi Optics' 18-50 and 50-150 zooms... exactly the same as the RED zooms. These were for sale after RED stopped selling their own zooms, so I'm not sure if they were leftovers that were 'sorta' rebranded, or if the company that had been making them decided briefly to cary on making them (??)

Anyway I have both of these lenses - with a little love and care I've been able to use them just about everyday for the last 6 years.

anyone know what the front diameter on the 17-50 is? I've seen 142mm but would love to verify

I have a set of these lenses 17-50 version 2 and 50-150 recently serviced for sale for 8000.00 which is less than the 8500 i payed for the 50-150.

Im curious about these two Red zoom lenses, .. anyone know this story on these?

18-50 and 50-150

I have the 18-85 and 50-150. Not the best, but i love the look of the picture. They are little bit soft and the 18-85 weights 10 pond (4,5 kg). Just shot a advertice with it.
The story was that they are rebuild Sigma lenses.... The 18-85 doesn't cover dragon 6K ORE RED EPIC-W IN 8K

if you can, try the copy of the 18-50mm before you buy - I think the QC on them was a little uneven, since it was the first lens RED released. some of them are outstanding (I have one, still love it, and it's not for sale, I have intercut it with primes no problem....), some of them not as sharp and looser in their mechanics. The 50-150mm was more consistent in the QC, so probably more trustworthy off the shelf, without a demo. You'll also want to test for vignetting - Helium vignettes less than Dragon, so YMMV.

I have both of these lenses, and they are great for shooting docs. I have the Sigma 18-35 and the 50-100, and these just flat-out look better....

18-50mm is a great little compact macro, which is a bonus....
