Hi folks,

For me, having this recorder with the ability to record ProRes 422 is one thing. But to have the recorder when I'm shooting, knowing that I can record simultaneously onto my Redmags at 24fps and onto the recorder at 25fps would be a huge bonus. Specially knowing how expensive it is to convert footage from 24fps to 25fps and vice-versa.

Can anyone confirm whether this is possible?

Many thanks,

Antonio

Not possible. Because the image has to be recorded and the written out to the framebuffer and then saved to SSD and downrezz'ed and output to SDI.

A sensor can't record two completely different things at the same time.

I mean... it's technically possible. But not with any sensors in existence that I know of.

Ok, this is what I have to get my head around. But it doesn't necessarily mean you have to record onto a Redmag at the same time you record onto the SSD, right? I'm just thinking of the limitations of having to stop recording because you've reached the end of the your Redmag when you still have a good amount of recording space on your SSD. Also, in some instances by not recording onto the mag, it will make your Redvolts life go further if the camera is technically on standby.

Again, I have more questions than answers, so grateful if you can shed some light into this.

Thanks
Antonio

The current firmware is giving you the option to record externally and even trigger it from the camera without recording internally.

It's expensive and tricky to maintain quality going between 30fps and other framerates, but not between 24fps and 25fps. It's just a slight slow down or speed up. 24fps films are usually projected or shown on TV in PAL countries at 25fps. The sound pitch may be altered to avoid pitch changes.
